  1. I'm putting this in the general forums rather than the private ones because I don't know who has lost access. However, this is for EVERYONE who even had a tip of a finger in this stupidity.

Wow. I never thought I'd be the one saying this to you people, but how childish are you being on both sides of this issue? Arg said something about another officer that wasn't nice and it causes a large group of prominent members to follow him after being kicked. A second teamspeak was put up because of the difficulty of getting new people onto ours.

This is a large group of people; not everyone is going to get along all the time and people are not going to like what others say/do all the time. For example.. I hate the fact that Mani refuses to give us all the information he has in situations like this and tries to shove it under the bed like it didn't happen sometimes. Shads once threatened to beat me up under the flagpole at noon after I asked him what crawled up his ass during BF2 games. But you know what? It doesn't matter.. this is how people are and you all need to get the fuck over it. A lot of people I play with (or used to anyway since CDL hasn't really 'played' anything since 'The Great Rift' that was World of Warcraft) and talk to are now gone and it's getting ridiculous. FFS, when Swifty leaves you know there's a problem.

I can't believe that those of you who left and those of you on CDL's side of this situation could have even let it get to this. Do you realize this is all over someone's or a couple people's feelings getting hurt? I see all this talk about 'fostering rebellion' or 'loss of trust' and 'well the CoC says this' but I don't fucking care... maybe you've forgotten but this is a GAMING COMMUNITY. Let me restate that in a different way: WE PLAY GAMES FOR ENJOYMENT WITH EACH OTHER. Don't get me wrong, the CoC is a neat little document, but losing this many friends over it is bullshit. Every single one of you involved in this situation need to step back and get over it.

  2. The following was posted by me in the private forums as well. Since Cyrus has put his thoughts here, I'll just copy what I said earlier:

  3. Actually, everyone who has left has either been an officer of CDL or a division leader. Think about it folks. It takes more than one person's hurt feelings to cause this kind of departure.

I urge everyone who is still in CDL to attend the meeting. Work it out. Be honest with each other.

    Peace.

  4. Got it right on Cyrus. We're a gaming community, yet stuff gets so damn serious with the rules of the guild. CDL is the *only* group that has "honor warnings" and "dishonorable discharges". We're not the military, and to regulate as such only gives an oppressive feel which those who left probably had enough of. It's fine to take honor seriously, but if you are in CDL, you should have the maturity to know right from wrong without needing it outlined in a CoC. The way honor warnings have been issued in the past to now departed members (Malone anyone?) probably keeps people from saying what's on their mind.

Why use such a system? All it does is bring shame to or outright piss someone off should they be unfortunate enough to recieve one.

CDL has always had a somewhat militaristic feel to it, and why not? Our leader is ex-military. Regardless, I think this method just...doesn't work for a guild that calls itself a family.

  5. I've been in probably 30+ guilds over the last 18 years of my online gaming life. CDL is hardly the first or only guild out there with a set of rules members are expected to follow and uphold. And as typical when those rules are broken there is usually a warning given. When its bad enough or enough warnings given, that person is asked to leave. Thats not militaristic, its just life. I don't salute the officers here, or treat them any different than any other member. So even though the names can make it seem like were in some kind of JROTC its never felt like that to me.

  6. Shouldn't have posted...

    Disregard.

  7. you should have posted, thats your option with out CDL will not grow and will not become a family again.

There are a lot of things that need to be changed, maybe with everyone that left that will open a few more eyes and make a difference.

People will dissagree, there will be clicks its a part of life, its a part of human nature. Like real family you fight scream yell say things you dont mean and when its all said and done, you hug make up and live to fight with eachother the next day. (kinda of like marriage ! :)

My feelings weren't hurt in anyway, like a kid with santa, I just stoped beliving in CDL :-(

I feel a loss, yet I feel that weigh is lifted off my shoulders and that I can enjoy games more.

Every clan needs a set of rules or maybe just one "Live the golden rule"
