    All I can say is I hope origins works a lot better come bf3 release.
    I guess this also means I need to remake my friends list again for origins.

    I just don't understand the whole Origin/Steam thing. And based solely upon this premise I will not be getting this game. EA needs to recognize the player base they're essentially isolating from a player base that needs to stay together.

    Origin/Steam. Two players enter, everyone loses.

    I care just enough to not get this game because of that.

    The reasoning behind it is pretty simple, Steam has restrictions in place stopping publishers from easily releasing content on their own game. Thus EA, the massive company behind it realized they don't need to play that game and can release content on their own schedule.

    As stupid as it sounds it sadly makes sense. Steam needs to allow better processes for larger customers to buy into if they have more ambitious content schedules.

    We saw it happen in early BFBC2 when content was out and it took longer for it to get to Steam because of the red tape involved.

    In the end they are not really isolating anyone, with one of the biggest game franchises in gaming history people will go to Origin irregardless.

    It does suck and it is petty - but I don't blame them in the end I'd probably do the same thing if I was in their shoes.

    I have a ton of games on steam and love the service but I still get games that don't come on it. Not crazy about origin but not going to boycot a game because its not a steam.

    BF3 won't be on steam at all will it? So there not splitting a player base except for those who only play steam games I guess.

    Had to get origin anyway since I did my pre-order for TOR through it.

    I'd rather have the game on Steam as well, but like Daleon I'm not going to toss out a great game because it isn't on the service. You have to have Origin to play ToR, so I don't see BF3 requiring it as a huge deal anyway. As for Origin as a service, I'll use it where required to play a game EA makes I suppose, but if it were a choice to buy something through Steam or Origin, I'll pick Steam, and chances are most other people would as well. So if Origin is looking to oust Valve from the digital distribution department, I'd say they're unlikely to have much success outside of their own protected exclusive games.

    ok. so I preordered using Origin. The game shows up in "My Games" list but I cant find a way to download it. Are you able to dl the game yet? or am I missing something?

    As long as you pre-order before the 20th (i think, not 100% on that) they are supposed to send out E-Mails late tonight and the download will be available somewhere around 8AM EDT tomorrow.
