DayZ Standalone released

Discussion in 'Upcoming Games Discussion' started by waldizzo, 16 Dec 2013.

  1. It used to be more scattered than before...but yeah..there are multiple spawn points along the coast but it's not too hard to figure out where you are and where to go to meet up with others. First thing you do is find a water hole and drink as much as possible...along the way search houses for gear and eat any food (except rotten fruit) you can. Once you find a waterhole then head immediately inland where it is safer and search for more gear making your way to the military bases for guns and ammo.

  2. Its a bit of a tough game to play right now. Lots of downtime and running (WITH NO AUTORUN KEY!!!). I bought it but am going to hold off playing it again for a while it has promise just might be too early for me.

  12. We're not exactly far from it right now.

  13. We are about a 10-15 minute run to Guba where we are...if it takes us that long

Do they allow anyone to run dedicated servers for this or are they teamed up with game server providers?

  15. We can buy a server and lock it down as far as I know. I have seen others lock theirs down. But as for the details I am not sure.

Everywhere I've read as far as up to mid December, there are no dedicated server files available as of yet. I'm hesitant about buying a server... Kinda pricey... upwards to $75/mth for a 30 slot. Without absolute commitments of monthly donations by several people (at least a half dozen or more) to keep it running, I don't see it being viable.

I think for the time being and until more of the game unfolds, we just invade publics.
