Discussion in 'General Open/Public Discussion' started by PumpMonkey, 21 Dec 2006.

  1. Howdy all~!

    Happy Winter Solstice~!!
Yup, today, Thursday Dec. 21, 2006, marks the solstice—the beginning of winter in the Northern Hemisphere and summer in the Southern Hemisphere. It is also the shortest day (and longest night) of the year; marking the 'Birth of the Sun' (the origin of the word solstice, comes from the Latin solstitium, = sol, “sun” and -stitium, “a stoppage.” )

The days are going to get longer in the northern hemisphere~!!
(Unfortunatly, shorts and t-shirts are still a ways off here in MN.) ;)

  2. Sure doesn't seem like winter down here in Alabama. Two days ago the high was 75 degrees! It is currently 63 degrees here. It's like Spring all over again!

  3. You're starting early~!!!
    ;)

Its (finally) starting to snow here~! Yee-Haaa.....
