Vanguard Saga of Heroes

  1. So, this game is getting released in 13 days (on 1/30) and I know that Shads, Paladin, and Blackdrop are definitely getting it.

    I'm still on the fence, leaning towards getting it.

    Who else is planning on getting it?

  3. Don't know enough about it to make a decision. I have heard it is good and I have heard it is bad. Nothing overwhelmingly swaying my decion one way or the other. A friend of mine has told me the crafting is pretty awesome though so I may check it out. Don't know if I want to sub to another game though.
     
  4. It's being described as "Hard without being Tedious"

    It's not WoW that's for sure. The only similarities between it and WoW are the interface.

    The closest MMO that I've played that is similar to it is DAoC.

    I'm on the fence. The only reason why is because I really need an update to this PC. I need a PCI-X card + new mobo. So we're looking at around $300 that I just do not have right now.

    After speaking with Shads today I'm probably going to pre-order this myself. What put me over the fence was that the beta servers are running debugging software at this time, so frame rates and lag will probably not be there. Also you won't need a beefy system to run this game at acceptable settings.

    I'm still going to upgrade, but not at this moment.
     
  8. I am definitely getting the game...but I still can't get it to work!

    I thought it might work after the latest patch, but no luck. I can't get anyone from Vanguard to email me back and they've closed the forums. I'm going to try and find an affiliated Vanguard site and post my issues there. Until I do, enjoy!

    .\Core.u seems to be my issue...I think?
     
  9. Start a Command prompt. ( Start -> Run -> Cmd -> Enter )
    Type chkdsk c: /R (case sensitive)

    Reboot your computer.
    Let chkdsk run, searching your Hard Drive for Bad Sectors.

    This is prolly gonna take a while so I'd plan to do something else while it's running.

    It really sounds like you have bad sectors on your HD.

  11. Thanks Arg! I just chkdsk'd and tried logging in to Vanguard. It didn't work, so I have taken the game completely off of my main hard drive and I am currently loading it onto my 2nd hard drive - hoping that if it is bad sectors on my main HD, this will take care of the loading problems.

    The HD is about a year old now.
     
  12. I installed the game on my backup hard drive. I hit play, I get the Vanguard screen and then it crashes to desktop. Could this still be my HD?

  13. Are you overclocking at all?

    You may have bad ram.

    Download and run Memtest from http://www.memtest86.com/ and see if it finds anything.

    I could totally see myself frying something and then posting an "Ohnoes help me!" thread...I really am trying to cut down on those...really.:eek:

  16. i have been looking at it, but just not sure if i am ready for another game, i refuse to be hardcore. but if it is similar to Daoc, i might give it a try, i loved daoc with a passion....

    they have pvp?? and if so what is the pvp like?? can anyone describe it for me? and how *pretty* is the game? ya i am a girl :) give me a break, i like to wander and explore and see pretty. cant help it!

    i am going to have to look at system requirements too, my comp is due for an upgrade, but i dont know how much of one i am going to get this year, cause i really want to get a few projects done around the house and see if i can squeeze one more year out of my computer :)
     
  17. As I sit here and ponder during work (what can I say...I'm a ponderer), the reason I crash out of Rainbow Six: Vegas might be because of memory issues. I hope the memory check turns out to be the ram.

    Currently I have 2 sticks of 1 gig ram.
    I've got 4 slots for ram...if I have to get another stick of ram - can I go to 4 gigs of ram or will that lead to having to up my power supply?

    Well if it turns out to be a bad stick of ram you can pull out one and try to run the game, if that doesnt work switch them (unless they have to be in pairs)

    You should be able to go 4gb (check your motherboard specs though) no problem I doubt it would be an issue with power. Try a bit of troubleshooting on the existing stuff first though. :D
     
  19. It's been said that Vanguard is not about the destination (End-Game) it's about the Journey. It's very open-ended and they don't lead you around by the hand on where to go. Don't know if you'd consider that Hardcore or not.

    Haven't tried the PvP yet, Shads will have to tell you about that.
