Need an artist...

    Hey folks,
    I'm highly considering (more in actually, I will be getting...) a tattoo of my name written in ancient germanic/runic writing.. however...

    I'm not artistically inclined what-so-ever... and the design I'm going for is in one of three varieties, and places.

    I want all three designs to be dimensional, and to have depth as well. Each letter (there's only four, and they're relatively easy to draw in and of themselves) should be 'etched' into a runestone, or a cube-like stone with little jaggies and stuff coming off them, but still resembling a stone.

    As for the actual design/placement... I was thinking of either having it drawn straight across the lower half of my back, or going vertical on the inside of my leg. A lot of people are saying to go with the leg, yet a lot of people are saying go with the back. Suggestions?

    I'm going for either the "Elder Futhark", or the "Medieval Futhark"

    Oh, ps. I'm also being promoted to a "Field Supervisor" by the end of the week. Already went for the interview and everything. Just a matter of clearing it with insurance and then I'll be bumped up into management and a 3-4 dollar raise. ;)

    Can someone please help me out?

    Here's what I have so far Asmo. I can apply some photoshop filters to it to make it appear more rocklike.

    The Runes say Adam. (that's yer name isn't it? :p )

    I tried to keep it relatively simple, since you're looking for it to be a Tattoo so that it doesn't increase the cost dramatically.

    Anyways, let me know what you think.

    Might one not ask their selected tatoo artist to come up with the design?

    And lower back is typically reserved for chick tatoos :p Unless of course you're going with the fully tatooed back kinda look.

    I'd go with between your shoulder blades if you're going for a back thing :) I always wanted a tatoo, but I'm way too tubby, noone wants to see that!

    you said you were looking for each letter to be like "carved" in a rune stone.(you being a guy) i would get the tatoo done down like you left or right shoulder blade iin a vertical if i were you. Very sexy spot imho !! Lower back is def a chick thing. its where i want my next tatoo!! having a few, and i am sure that anyone else who has one can tell you, that is probally a very good place for a first one, as there is some muscle there. Inside your leg would hurt like HELL! and the nice thing is that if you do it on your shoulder blade all you have to do is wear a shirt to cover it up should you not want anyone to see it :) i will look around if i get a chance and see what i can come up with for stone look and runic letters :)

    lol, yeah I figured the lower back was a bad spot... the shoulderblade was the one spot I was considering too. :)

    I know tattoos are addicting too.....

    I've actually got a good friend of mine designing a tattoo for me as well... based off this picture:

    asmo, tatoos are forever. Pay the extra money for a pro tattoo artist to design something. It will be well worth it.

    I know queenie, that's why I'm getting different people to throw ideas at me. :p

    If I don't like the guy who I'm going to in two weekends, then I'll be going to a pro shop downtown. :)

    if i got a tattoo, it would just be black and say TATTOO.

    Then people would see it and go "wtf is that!?"
    and then I would say "can't you read!?"" and slap them for being stupid.

    Man I wish the Red vs Blue PSA about tattoo's was up.

    Oh well, go by Gamestop and pick up the season 1 and 2 DVD's and watch it.

    hey that looks like the picture i found based on the some of the information i could find about runes :) and vikings ( this is where they originated!) and found something very similar to that same pic :) very intresting history to them :)

    You betcha Mig... I was deeply involved in researching them when I was younger... and they really fascinate me...

    I have some british blood in me, and I figure that stems back to the viking times, as they took over most of britan back in the days...
