  3. yup - I stand corrected. Since I had already purchased the Moria & Mirkwood expansions, plus the adventurers pack - I have most of the VIP features despite that I am only a Premium level player.

Those of you that have VIP status will at least be able to use your store points to purchase the expansions though it may take a couple of months to get there without spending actual cash. So build up the points and we'll see ya in a couple of months.

  4. heh... i have only played randomly in the past year :/... but updating right now.....

If anyone needs armor/weapons/ or what ever... let me know...

I might need some ingredients, but my 3 main toons r all 55+ and can make whatever u low levels need :)

  5. Are you guys still playing?

  6. This game is difficult to get back into... I have no idea where I am with quests at level 48 and have no idea what to do. No one is LFF it doesnt seem or there is only like 2 people in the area...

  7. Yes I'm still on daily. Can assist you with where to go and what's changed. Lots of new people on - but can imagine the higher level might be a little sparse. Recently read where they have doubled their revenue since F2P - a high percentage of former players are back playing and populations have doubled in general. Apparently the right move for them.

  8. I started a new account after f2p but haven't been able to be on recently - out of town for a week then sick for a week. I think i'm only lvl24 or so on my main.

  9. Yeah Im thinking of starting a new minstrel. Might be easier to start over than try to carry on with my 48 hunter

  10. I defintely will as soon as I fix this registry problem. I've been waiting patiently for the day where I don't have to pay beyond keeping my inventory :)

  11. ...well it appears I can use the forums again, but my account is still suspended (despite being a "Premium" user now) unless I pay the monthly VIP fee! I've posted a complaint to see if the company responds.

UPDATE: Within 5 mins it's official - Turbine screwed the pooch with my account. I reckon it will take a few hours for them to fix it. In the meantime I am downloading the Hi-Res client.

UPDATE 2: It may take longer. Did you know you can't get support on the game unless you have accurate billing info?! I thought this was supposed to be Free-to Play.

  12. Tomorrow we will be phoning Turbine, as it looks as though I will have to go "VIP" to get some tech support for my account but; killing two birds with one stone, the best option in this case is to purchase Mines of Moria (preferably the Collector's Edition) that comes with a 30-day trial as standard, as I still need the US version of the expansion to upgrade my game's content anyway. It's only $30 now so that should be a drop in the ocean.

However, after having discussions with users on LOTRO's F2P forum, it seems the only way I can get the expansion without paying the customs tax is if it is bought as a gift for me, from someone outside the EU. Any volunteers?!

  13. LOTRO F2P - November 29th update

Turbine addresses feedback since F2P and makes some changes some of you might find appealing.

“With the free-to-play launch, you could walk right up to the gates of Moria,” Aaron explained. “With this update, we're extending that idea so that you can walk through Moria, into Mirkwood, basically across the world as it's built without ever buying anything or paying a dime. The world is open to you.” This means that free players will enjoy a fully extended level cap (up to 65), continue to complete the epic storyline, enjoy the skirmishes that are part of that storyline, and be capable of continuing to level in new areas without purchasing the expansion.
Also more F2P content with "tasks":

For free players still in Eriador, hope comes in a new quest system called Tasks. These “simple little quests” are targeted to free players (but available to all), and found at various bulletin boards throughout the regions. These quests offer experience and reputation gains, and there are deeds and titles centered around them as well. While there is a cap to how many of these quests can be completed per day, the more tasks that are completed, the more a player can extend out that cap. The task system should introduce more ways for free players to progress without having to invest in quest packs along the way.
Regular area quests still will require spending Turbine Points for regional area "quest packs" which are at least "Account wide", thus once an area is purchased, it's available to all your current and future alts as well.

Moria is rather cool. At least you can take a stroll through the content now (watch your step! ) But as one commenter posted in response to Turbine's Upcoming Expansion "Rise of Isengard" (Fall 2011):
"Ever since Lothlorien, Mirkwood and now Enedwaith with F2P. It has all become a loooong boring Reputation grind."
Pretty much true - there's content but rep is most of it's intent and there's a lot of grinding to get the good stuff from the area rep vendors. Expansion is said to be open to a wide level range with a lot of mid-level content. Hopefully something a little more varied than the last 3 area's.

All in all the F2P has been pretty good - populations are there and works well to the casual player and this update should improve that further.

  14. Yes yes yes! I bought the game cheap at Target like, two years ago. Never had the chance to try it, then finally gave it a quick go. But my one month free prescription ran out before I could really do much.

But lo! It became free to play, and I wanna play.

    When you wanna play?

  15. Am on daily. Char name is same: Marsman - send me a tell and we'll get ya hooked up.

  16. Sarxis, forgot to ask - what are your character names in LotRO so I can add them to my friend list and keep and eye out for ya. :p

  17. Let me look them up :p

They are new characters. I was online playing my Minstrel yesterday. Level 5! Yes!

Hobbit Burglar is level 2 I think. :D

Garretwise is the Hobbit... Iothewen is the Elf Minstrel.

    I've been playing on Vilya.

  18. Well no wonder we haven't seen each other. Most everyone who did play/is playing in on the Meneldor server. Before you get too far, start a char (or 2 lol ) on that server. Least I can make you stuff that way ;)

  19. Ok.. I will get started there; probably tomorrow at this point.
