European Vacation ( no Lampooning planned )

Discussion in 'General Open/Public Discussion' started by Aeternus, 4 Jun 2003.

  1. Just wanted to let peeps know that I'll be going on a 3+ week backpacking vacation to Europe from July 7 through the 31st.
I'm meeting up with my lil bro who is over there studying German during June and we'll take in some sites and some beer. While I'm not a beer drinker - simply having found one I like- I could not pass up the oportunity to sample the goods of the 500+ different labels in Germany alone. (I will not be drinking all of them...just the ones prudence and $$ will allow) We'll be hitting Eng, Scotland, France (don't worry, we'll try not to accept any surrenders), Italy, Belgium, Germany...etc...

But anyway...wanted to give a heads-up ahead of time since I'll be gone for so long. Till then, cya in PS. Honor Valor Victory

Make sure you hit Bastogne. There is a museum there dedicated to that great stand by the 101st.

I think you will enjoy it! I spent 7 years in Germany. Beautiful...

  3. Go visit the maginot line too, make sure to head to Normandy, or Brittany to see some of the old German Defence bunkers.

  4. Yes, I do very much intend on seeing many of the WWII sites...I've not formulated a complete list of sites yet, having been a student of history has given me a desire to see more sites in Europe than i can possibly fit into 3 weeks... I'll be doing a little "Trimming of the Fat" myself as I decide what to hit and what not to... there is simply too much that I want to see for 1 trip...

I'll be sure to add Bastogne to the list Mani, that's one that wasn't on there yet....thnx for the heads up

  5. Sweet!

I lived in Germany for 2 yrs and loved it. I traveled everywhere when i was on leave. Theres tons of history all over Europe to see, even back to the roman days and beyond. All the lovely ladies are nt a bad thing either!!!

Yes, Europe is so much fun. I hope to get over to Italy when I get a chance to. I have a sister-in-law who's living over in Naples and my brother just got assigned to Aviongne (sp?) up in northern Italy. My wife is a 1st generation Italian, so I have someone who can speak the language too :)

Probably won't be going this year. Have a good opportunity on buying the duplex my mother-in-law owns right now.
