  4. The following is a summary of things covered in this livestream:

    What starting races will there be?
    At the moment only Humans are the starting race, at time-of-launch, though this doesn’t mean there or may not be others available as the game develops.

    If I have a Founder’s Pack and am in Alpha, what happens? Will I lose all my stuff during a wipe?
    There are two distinct wipes, set to occur between Alpha and Closed Beta, and then again between Closed Beta and Open Beta. During the first wipe, characters and “templates” for objects created by players will be kept, but personal progression, claimed spots, resources collected and items traded will be lost.

    During the second wipe, character progression and claims will be erased, but players will keep everything else, including traded items and resources collected… items purchased using real money or Station Cash, however, will NEVER be lost during any deployment phase.

    How will content transfer EQN Landmark and EQN be transferred?
    At present, there are no plans to transfer player-created items from EQN Landmark to EQN.

    Will “gifting” be made available for the Founder’s Packs?
    Gifting the Founder’s Packs to people were made available alongside normal purchases.

    Can you give your beta key from SOE Live to other players?
    No. People who attended SOE Live will not enter until the Closed Beta onwards. Anybody who purchased a Founder’s Pack during the event will also have the slot in the bundle supersede it. Beta keys are not actually codes for you to sell and, in fact, a place that is reserved for you.

    Can either the Settler’s Pack or Explorer’s Pack be upgraded to a higher tier?
    This feature was made available the day Founder’s Packs were launched.

    How does the Pick Axe work in-game; are they two separate items? Is the item destructible?
    Not exactly – in the game at launch there will be four tools; the Pick and the Axe are just being made available for those who purchase a Founder’s Pack. Owners of these packs will receive the most powerful Tier 1 Pick, as well as the least powerful Tier 5 Axe, but one that can harvest from any tree species in the game and can be upgraded as your character progresses. Neither are destructible.

    Gameplay Demo Explained
    When you play the game, there will be seven primary features used for creation:

    1. Selection Tool - the selection tool lets you select an arbitrary volume of space and fill, remove or change its material properties. With this tool you are also able to copy and paste geometry, or even save it as a "template" for future use as a brush and to sell on Player Studio.
    2. Build Tool - this allows you to build voxels with the amount of material you have stored in your inventory. Using the mouse wheel can increase and decrease your brush size, whilst a key will be assigned to change it between square and rounded brushes.
    3. Remove Tool - this allows you to carve materials you create in the world. It also allows you to carve from the game-environment, but is not advised you do this as it is difficult to remodel.
    4. Heal Tool - this tool reverses the effects to the game-environment to its original state on the server, after being altered by the Remove Tool.
    5. Smooth Tool - this allows you to "erode" the materials you place in the world.
    6. Paint Tool - this tool does more than simply paint; instead, when using a new material, it will physically swap out the object's existing material properties.
    7. Line Tool - this tool generates a straight line of seamless geometry by selecting two edges of an object. The tool also lets you to alter the brush size on the end-point, bevelling the geometry.
    There are also "props" - objects you are able to use to furnish the environment with, which require a recipe found throughout the game.

    What is the status concerning NDAs?
    The Alpha has a Non-Disclosure Agreement (or NDA), though it has not been confirmed yet whether the other development stages will have this as well...

    The purpose of NDAs are to prevent screenshots or videos from early development phases from being released to non-players, and a confidentiality agreement on the forums will be present to do the same for sensitive information being released.

    What about combat?
    Combat with NPCs (Non-Player Characters) is expected to be introduced sometime after the Alpha phase.

    Will ingame titles in Founder's Packs remain throughout development phases?
    Yes.

    What content theme packs will be developed for EQN Landmark?
    The level of interest from the community will determine what types of materials and objects will be added to the game; for example, whether they will by fantasy-based or scifi-based.

    What types of environments will players find in the game?
    The world of EQN Landmark will have all sorts of environments present in the real world, from temperate forests, to barren deserts, tundra, mountainous terrain, grasslands, plains and even volcanic landscapes.

    Will there be water?
    Eventually!

    Will you be adding new environments as time goes on?
    Yes - most likely these will be expansions introduced periodically as major title updates.

    How big is the world?
    The world of EQN Landmark uses a continent-based system; the gameplay demo's continent is 4,000x8,000m with a 1,500m elevation, though some continents will be smaller or larger as the world's size is finalised.

    How big can a territory claim be?
    The precise size of claims is still to be determined, but will be announced at a later date.

    When you heal terrain or delete materials you have used to create objects, do you regain those resources?
    Yes.

    How does EQN Landmark and EverQuest Next communicate?
    EQN Landmark is the toolset and content the studio will be using to build the environments found in EverQuest Next. As a free-to-play game, everything that is being developed to improve this toolset will be accessible to players months prior to EQN's launch, which means they will have undisputed access to create their own worlds (or MMO) in EQN Landmark.

    When EverQuest Next launches, will EQN Landmark be discontinued?
    No. EQN Landmark is its own product and exists independently of the game; similar to an engine SDK, which will continue to be supported after the launch of EverQuest Next.

    If you don't want to build anything, is there still a place for me in EQN Landmark?
    Yes. If players are not interested in building things, they can explore the gameworld as with EverQuest Next, and combat against AI will be introduced later on. You can also act as a supplier to other players; harvesting the resources in the environment and then selling what was collected, receiving a payment of virtual currency or other collateral to use as you wish. You can even switch between continents and "worlds" of different environments freely.

    When you claim part of the world, can you give permissions to other players?
    Yes. Once you have a territory, you can allow another player, or even a group of players (whether or not as part of a Guild) to build on that territory.

    How does the progression system work?
    As you navigate through the world, you will gather resources and these will unlock new features for you to use. For example, using materials in a certain way will unlock your character's ability to fly, in order to access higher parts of the world or build larger objects.

    Can you build ladders?
    Yes and no. Players can build objects that simulate the appearance of ladders, but there is no functionality to use them in that capacity yet.

    How can you customise your character?
    At launch you will be able to change your character's physical characteristics - skin tone, face, hair color, eye color, beards, and gender. As you venture out into the world, however, you will be able to find recipes to customise their outifts as well.

    Will there be Day/Night mechanics in EQN Landmark?
    Yes, there will be a day/night cycle established for the game.

    How can players get into EQN Landmark on Day One?
    In order to play EQN Landmark from the first day of Alpha, you must purchase an "Explorer" or "Trailblazer" tier Founder's Pack.

    Do players start the game with a part of the world as their own?
    No. To be able to build in the world, you have to explore the landscape and make a claim to own that piece of territory.

    Are the studio going to spotlight player creations and show them off to the community?
    Of course!

    Can objects be animated in the world?
    Not yet, but this system will be implemented in time for launch.

    Can players craft in the game?
    Yes. Crafting is a core game mechanic and you may need recipes found in the world to create new things (no word on whether you can craft new recipes, however).

  10. Guess I should have grabbed a claim first thing but didn't think they would fill up like this. Found one on a tier 2 or 3 area far out, will be a pain to find it again. Not to worried about it right now ppl having tons of problems with stuff and work disappearing.

    I have been trying this out. My laptop will not render the ground or building block textures properly; they all appear black. My gaming PC is fine. The game is a very promising "drug" for those who are addicted to Minecraft. I have a claim on Liberation server, Drift continent. I am way out on the edge of the map in the ice covered mountains. I have a Keep and one of the crafting tables - the one that smelts ore - I forgot the name. I am working on getting the mats for a crafting table for the wood stuff now.
     
  13. Mostly been working on picks, but got a floor and some wood walls up on my property. Still trying to get used to the selection tool.

  15. Yea its easy when your using it in open space but when using it up against other walls or material it can be a pain. Main problem been having is lighting. To much night time and to hard to see even during the day with so much shadowing. Torches don't do much. Need to see if lightstones are worth making.

    Yea I didn't realize how powerful the selection tool was till I watched some videos. You can literally fill it with any material and build entire walls at a time.. etc.
