i have tried this today. its not to bad. Its built on the unreal engine. jump jets. purchasable equipment, defend objectives and capture objectives. not a bad game once you get into it. theres a few tricks to login in. I kept entering my login name and pw for fileplanet, but its actually your nickname and your password that you use, Make sure your log in to fileplanet. then open up the game. When your logged into fileplanet make sure you note your login name where it says Welcome "xx"

 

now that ive played section 8 a little more, I have to say it is pretty fun. If any of you are able to get the beta from fileplanet, I would highly encourage you to do so. I would like to know what some of the rest of you feel about it.

ok. ill try to break it down. It is a first person shooter. the graphics are smoth and the gameplay is fast. There are two teams, the arm and section 8. At the beginning of the map you have squad options up to 5 per squad. team sizes vary from 16 to 20 per side. so you typically have 4-6 squads. at the beggining of the map there is usually 2-4 objective points to take and hold (capture and hold style). There is a multiple variety of choices to make for your characters loadout, from high armour and sheild to fast and deadly firepower, to sniper to engineer, to recon/stealth. The armor looks similiar but the choices play much differently depending on your loadout. you can have up to 6 custom loadouts and choose a different loadout after every death and respawn, OR at also change your loadout at a supply terminal. There are pistols, machine guns, assult guns, shotguns, sniper rifles, knifes, and rocket launchers. There is is ticket counter that starts to go up as you capture and hold objectives. First team to 1000 points (or 1500) whatver the server is set at wins. As your team starts to accumulate team points, you can start various side missions during the map play, such as convoy escort, VIP escort, Intellegence retrieval, and outpost defense missions, If you succeed in these side missions, you get more ticket points to the teams score. Also, each player accumulates credits during the map play depending on various things, you get points for killing enemies, capturing objectives, defending objectives, assisting other players doing these things, and teamwork (working togethter with your squad) as you get credits you can use them to do things like buy a Heavy mech suit, Imagine sigorney weaver in aliens type suit, with chain guns, You can buy a tank, you can buy a deployable like a supply station, rocket turret, aa turret or minigun turret for defense and what not. Oh and last but not least, there are jet packs. you can fly around. There is not skiing like in tribes but there are jump packs. Also, your character after about 5 seconds of running enters a Warp run mode that allows you to run very fast around the map for a limited time (about 20 seconds). Theres so much to this game that it really is a pretty fresh fps. not just your average point and shoot. I really am suprised no one else is checking this out.
