  1. Vicarious
    Tool
    10000 Days
(Lyrics from "The Tool Page" http://toolshed.down.net/lyrics/10kdayslyrics.php )
    Code:
    Eye on the TV
    'cause tragedy thrills me
    Whatever flavor
    It happens to be

    Like:
    "Killed by the husband"
    "Drowned by the ocean"
    "Shot by his own son"
"She used the poison in his tea
    and kissed him goodbye"
    That's my kind of story
It's no fun til someone dies

    Don't look me at like
    I am a monster
    Frown out your one face
    But with the other
    Stare like a junkie
    Into the TV
    Stare like a zombie
While the mother, holds her child
    Watches him die
    Hands to the sky cryin,
    "Why, oh why?"

Cause I need to watch things die
    From a distance
    Vicariously,
I Live while the whole world dies
You all need it too - don't lie.

Why can't we just admit it?
Why can't we just admit it?
We won't give pause until the blood is flowin'
    Neither the brave nor bold
Will write us the story so
We won't give pause until the blood is flowin'

I need to watch things die
    From a good safe distance
    Vicariously,
I Live while the whole world dies
You all feel the same so
Why can't we just admit it?

    Blood like rain come down
    Drown on grave and ground

    Part vampire
    Part warrior
    Carnivore and voyeur
    Stare at the
    Transmittal
    Sing to the death rattle

La, la, la, la, la, la, la-lie (x4)

    Credulous at best
    Your desire to believe in
Angels in the hearts of men.
But pull your head on out
Your head please and give a listen
Shouldn't have to say it all again

    The universe is hostile
    So impersonal
    Devour to survive
So it is, so it's always been ...

    We all feed on tragedy
It's like blood to a vampire

    Vicariously,
I Live while the whole world dies
    Much better you than I.

  2. ... I don't understand why Tool gets so much praise and hype. Vicarious sounds like a generic mix of two of their previous songs. =|

  3. I think the song kicks ass personally. I'm easy to please though.

  4. Pretty sweet Arg. I've kind of fallen out of love with Tool but...

Tool - Undertow (The unedited version) is one of my all time faves.

  5. When I first posted this last night, I was thinking of starting up a discussion regarding the content of the lyrics, mostly.

About how we, as a society, are desensitized to, and sometimes even entertained by the tragedy of others.

We will sit there and watch while bad things happen to people.

"It was 'Like a train wreck', I couldn't look away."

Why do you think accidents on the roads cause such a huge backup?

Like the song says, the only time we think twice about what we are seeing is when there is blood.

    No Blood. No problem.

You'll never hear me say I don't love gore.

As far as Tool goes, I have never understood the attraction to their music. To me they have always sounded like a bunch of whiney emo cry babies.

Not much of a Tool fan myself :/

On the other side of life....

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shakin' hands, sayin' "How do you do?"
They're really saying "I love you"

I hear babies cryin', I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself, what a wonderful world

    Oh yeah

What a Wonderful World - Louie Armstrong
